IABC Communication Commons

A Blog Community for Business Communicators

About The Commons

IABC is expanding its communication thought leadership role with the launch of the Communication Commons, an ever-changing community of communicators who will share their insights and expertise and engage in a dialogue with readers.

Using a blogging model, the Commons launches with three separate areas: employee communications, branding/marketing, and measurement. We will be adding others in the future.

Each blog will feature several authors who will report, analyze and comment on communication news and issues. As with most blogs, readers are invited to share their own comments.

The learning points from each blog-ranging from new ideas to best practices–will be archived on a related web site for easy retrieval. Additional blogs on other communication-related topics will be added after an initial testing period.

For each Commons blog, IABC has asked several senior communicators to make regular posts. Think of them as the resident hosts of the Commons — planting the seeds of our conversations and helping to keep the ball rolling. The Commons is open to any communicator, whether or not they are IABC members, for reading and commenting.

“The Commons’ visibility helps to elevate IABC’s profile in the world of organizational communications and introduce our association to a whole new segment of the profession,” said Shel Holtz, ABC, who has been working with staff to develop the Commons. “It’s also a contribution to the profession as a whole.”

The Commons also provides a gateway to the larger IABC web site, where visitors can learn more about the association and its value to communicators.
